TROOP 1191 - BARKSDALE AIR FORCE TRIP FAQ

February 2-4, 2007


Q. What time to we depart from Jess Harben Elementary School and what will we need there?

A. 7:30 a.m. on February 2, 2007. Please plan on being there approximately 7:10 a.m. for check-in to submit permission slips and receive driver packets and information. Permission slips are located at www.troop1191.com under calendar section. Please have a signed permission slip for each scout (even if parent is attending).

Q. When do we need to wear Class A uniforms?

A. Scouts and Adults are required to wear Class A uniforms while traveling and when touring the Air Force Base.

Q. What if I don't have a Class A uniform?

A. Troop 1191 has 'experienced' uniforms which are available for lending purposes. Please come to the troop meeting on January 22nd to select from what is available.

Q. What gear is needed for Friday & Saturday night? Do I need to bring a tent?

A. A tent is not necessary as we will be sleeping in the Airman Leadership Gymnasium. A sleeping bag, pillow, pad, and cot are recommended. A pad will add needed insulation from the gym floor if you do not have a cot.

Q. Will we be caravanning?

A. Final driver information and instructions will be relayed at check-in on the 2nd.

Q. What if I have more scouts and adults in my group and not enough vehicle space for everyone?

A. Troop 1191 has limited seat space for persons who do not have available seats in your drivers' vehicles. Try to make sure there are enough seatbelts in your designated driver's vehicle for everyone. If you are having seating/travel concerns, please let Jeff Sneed know.

Q. What if I have to leave early on the 4th to return to Dallas?

A. There should not be a problem. Please let Jeff Sneed know ahead of time that you need to leave early. Secure seating with other drivers for any passengers that may have driving down with you if needed.

Q. Where we eat our meals?

A. For Friday everyone needs to bring a sack lunch. We will have dinner on Friday in the mess hall. Saturday's breakfast and lunch will be in the mess hall. For Saturday's dinner the Troop will select a restaurant on the Base for dinner. Sunday morning breakfast will be in the mess hall and Sunday's lunch will be on the road.

Registration Deadline: Monday, January 22, 2007

Remember to bring a sack lunch for Friday, extra money for lunch on the road on Sunday, and money for bowling and Barksdale souvenirs.
