SPACE CENTER HOUSTON is the official visitors’ center of the Lyndon B.
Johnson Space Center—the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA)
center for human spaceflight activities—located in
Houston.
TRAINING: Space
Center Houston strives to help scouts achieve their individual scout badges and
electives by engaging them in an interactive and hands-on learning environment.
The interaction between Space Center Houston staff, scout leaders, scouts, and
parents is promoted through small group settings that not only engages scouts,
but inspires them to create, learn, and grow as individuals within their
group.
SPACE
EXPLORATION MERIT BADGE: The Boy Scout Camp-ins meets many of the
essential components of the Space Exploration Merit Badge. The Boy Scout
camp-ins include: building and launching a rocket, designing and building a
Martian base, constructing a space station, viewing a large screen film in our
Northrop Grumman Theater.
MEALS: All
Meals are included in the fee: A Southern dinner will be served to all the
groups at 6:00pm in the Zero-G diner. The dinner includes chicken fried chicken,
mashed potatoes, salad, roll, cookie and a drink. A late evening light snack
will be served to all campers. A light breakfast wraps up every camp-in. Group
leaders and chaperones will eat with their groups at the assigned time. No
outside food or drink is permitted in Space Center Houston, unless needed for
medical reasons. If you have questions about the menu, call 281-244-2148.
LIGHTS
OUT: We will be sleeping among the
space capsules exhibits in Starship Gallery and it's the closest thing to Space
on Earth! As for sleep itself, expect as much as anyone would get at a slumber
party for hundreds of people. Lights out ranges from 11:30 pm to 12:30 am
depending on the Camper/Scout level. Make sure you bring your sleeping
bag. The cost of bunking in the
Space Center is included in the fee.
COST: $55.00 per Scout & Adult - What will we get for our
money?
For only $55 per scout you will receive a wonderful
educational experience for your scouts as well as dinner, a late evening snack, a light morning breakfast, Giant Screen
films, private tram tour to JSC, and a next day visit to tour Space Center
Houston on our own as a Troop. Adult-Scout ratio will be determined at the close of
